BSC has produced a weekly program for public radio for 27 years. A survey of BSC’s peers discovered that BSC programming is highly regarded across a spectrum of radio and multimedia producers, public radio distributors, and throughout the music industry. The radio program is recognized as a "leader in the medium, infused with rigorous music critiques, anthropological and historical perspectives, and an investigative approach to its subject matter" (FMT- Public Media Landscape Analysis conducted summer of 2015).
BSC relates the story of American music by way of Memphis – Home of The Blues, and The Birthplace of Rock and Roll. BSC presents these traditions through live performances from modern practitioners. Commentary and interviews with artists and industry insiders round out the program and offer further insight into Memphis' pioneering legacy of blues, soul, gospel, and rock & roll music.
